No issues here. Make sure your fingers are dry and try and run the fingerprint setup wizard first. It will illustrate how to swipe your finger. Make sure the fingerprint reader is clean too.
T420s Intel Core I5 2.6ghz, 160GB Solid State Drive, DVDRW, 14" display w/ HD3000 graphics, Intel AGN, BT, 8GB DDR3 SDRAM, Gigabit Ethernet, Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
perhaps this would help...

Skin variations for the fingerprint reader
If your hands are dry this may affect the responsiveness of the reader.
Note: Dry hands can lead to the reader not being able to detect a swipe. Additionally, excessive oils can lead to the "slow down" message even when you're swiping at a slow speed.
Fingerprint reader is not functioning properly
Several steps can be performed to resolve this problem.
- * Ensure your finger is at the same angle as it was during enrollment. Even moderate changes in finger angle during swipe can cause the "Match failed" error.
* Delete and recreate fingerprints.
* Run the Diagnostic in PC Doctor.
* Uninstall and reinstall software.

You will always get better results from a slightly moise finger. I lick mine and then wipe it off on my pants or shirt just prior to running it over the scanner.joh wrote:again, i tried many times for hours and days, and it's not working. I tried other people's fingers and couldn't even pass the tutorial.
Try it and see!

My last 4 Thinkpads (X300, X61 Tablet, X60s, X41?) all had fingerprint readers, and they all malfunctioned about half the time. I get one of an assortment of complaints from the system, or no response at all. Then, eventually, it works. Unless I've just come in from the cold, in which case it forgets who I am.
The finger-licking solution is interesting, but should this really be necessary on a $3,000 computer? Sadly, biometrics of all kinds are still way short of perfection.

No licking necessary. Just make sure your finger isn't too dry.tangible wrote:

Fingerprint readers are not foolproof ... more a convenience item, and definitely should not replace a good password in secure environments.
