I'm using wireless N with a Linksys router. Connection is rock solid with 5 bars signal strength. It seems just about as fast as using wired network connection. If you're not running Vista you may need to tweak your TCP stack.

my signals are good also, it's just downloading is very slow. In fact, writing any file seems slow.

If this is only my problem, how should I prove to lenovo that my ssd is defected ?

I've been noticing this problem here for about 2-3 weeks but didn't say anything. I get a lot of "waiting for httpXXXXX" and sometimes if I reclick it loads, sometimes not. Even my home page which is the local phone company is slow to load. I get quite a few timeouts also.

try turning off your wireless card's power management in the device manager.   that usually cures the problem.

I have a new T61p with Vista, and it appears that Internet with Vista is about 1/10 as fast as Internet with XP - both using wired internet (the same wired internet at the same time).

Update: It appears Vista Windows update was very slow. I am downloading the 64-bit Service Pack 1 now on the Vista machine and it is clicking along quite well. As fast as the XP machine downloaded 32-bit Service Pack 1.

in device manager, right-click on your wireless card and select 'properties'.   under the 'power management' tab is a checkbox saying "allow this computer to turn off this device to save power."   make sure that's unchecked.

I have been experiencing this as well after reloading the system with XP. It looks like we may have a driver issue with XP, I have not seen this when using the preloaded Vista. I noticed if you do a speed test from the web, I get download speeds of approximately 5mbps, but when downloading files it typically maxes out at 1.5mbps or slower and even expereince a large number of timeouts.

To answer questions in advance, all of the thinkpad drivers have been loaded, the BIOS updated and all XP updates with SP2.
