Force Shutdown of x300

#1 Post by Pharfignewton » Sun Apr 27, 2008 9:23 am

Hi,

Can you kindly tell me how to force shut down a thinkpad?
I've had my x300 stuck at the windows shutdown screen on a few occasions and I've tried to hold down the power button and it wouldn't shutdown.
The only way that i managed to shut it down was to remove the power cable and batteries (which is difficult when you have a bay battery screwed in)

hold down the power button for 4 seconds and it'll shut off.

That is bizzare. I would guess your laptop is broken. This would be first time I've heard of the power button not working.

I've had it happen before on really bad crashes. It's a bit of a hassle to pull the battery out, I imagine it would be even more so with a bay battery screwed in.

Four seconds on the power button is the last step to try before yanking the power.
