X300 waking up from sleep when moved

#1 Post by rkuo » Mon May 05, 2008 5:45 pm

OK, this recently started happening and I have no idea why. Does anyone have any ideas? It's incredibly annoying and I can't tell if it's something I did or if I need to get a warranty replacement.

I'm running Windows Vista x64, I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

My best guess is that one of the triggers for waking up is being hit. For example, does it think the screen is being opened? Maybe the screen is hitting the FN key? Or the Spacebar?

do you have any USB peripherals plugged into the X300 when moving it?

Hmm, that may have been it. I have a Logitech VX Nano and the micro receiver is always in the laptop. But why would this wake it up when moved?

go into the device manager and uncheck the box allowing the device to wake the system from sleep.   or, disable the always-on USB power setting in the BIOS.   either one will fix this issue.

thanks.   i learned this one the hard way a few years ago so it's easy to spot given the right clues. :)
