external broadband modem - compass 597 conflict

I have a new x300 Lenovo and want to use my existing Sprint Wirelass plan for cellular modem connectivity. So, I purchased the Sprint Sierra Wireless Compass 597 (usb) external modem. Unfortunately, after installing the Compass 597 my touchpad quits responding. I have to uninstall both and re-install the ultra nav to get it working again. Anyone have any success or failure with this modem on the x300? Anyone having success with any other Sprint external modems? Thanks!
