BEWARE: BIOS v1.04 HARD-LOCKUPS

#1 Post by vpn-user » Mon May 26, 2008 3:58 pm

Installed BIOS v1.04 in the evening, just had a HARD-LOCKUP a few minutes from this posting. System totally freezed, no reaction, screen content frozen. Happened when starting a file transfer over WLAN, WLAN LED kept blinking.

I'll downgrade. Stay away from it.

Update: Perhaps it was caused by enabling the "optimize for performance" option of the SSD in Vista (Did that right after the BIOS Update). I'll keep you posted, I disabled this feature again, still on v1.04 for now.

under server 2008 the "optimize for performance" radio button is permanently selected with "enable write caching on the disk" automatically checked.   i upgraded to 1.04b a few days ago and haven't had any issues so far.

Has anyone tried the 1.04b update w/ Win XP Pro? If so, any problems?

Using XP, did the upgrade with no hassles a few days ago.
After purchase of the pre-installed XP, I did a clean install when I first recieved the laptop a few months ago. Zero issues so far.

Without giving a reason, v1.04b has again (v1.03b also was) been pulled from the site and only v1.02a is shown again.

LENOVO: STOP THIS POLICY AND SHOW REASONS. This is completely unprofessional! What shall people do that already installed the update? What problems may arise?
