Hi,
My name is Shauli and i'm from israel.
I'm thinking about buying the x300 from lenovo\IBM, I know that it has 3G module and I would like to know if it will work in israel with my oporator, and frequency. (Orange Israel) (900\1800)
Does it come sim free?
Can i make it sim free?
What do i need to know and check before I buy it?
Thank you in advance

Depending on what model WWAN module it has, you may have luck with DC-Unlocker to remove the sim lock.
Make sure the WWAN module supports the frequencies of your local carrier! I know some of the early cards only supported some of the UMTS frequencies that are in use around the world..

it's very possible that those who have viewed your question don't have an answer.
with that said, it's best that you call lenovo to find out if the card is unlocked, then call orange to see if the card is compatible with their system. if someone on the forum says that it will work and you follow through with a purchase only to find out that it doesn't work, you'll be unhappy. calling lenovo/orange is the best way to answer your question.
good luck!

There are only two options which your X300 can come with. One is some CDMA EV-DO card, which will not be compatible with Orange's network.
The second possibility is Sierra Wireless MC8775, an GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA card, with support of 3.6Mbps/384kbps speeds and that will work. The card supports GPRS/EDGE (slow connection) frequencies 800/850/1800/1900MHz and UMTS/HSDPA (fast connection) frequencies 850/1900/2100MHz.
It is probable but not completely certain that the card won't be SIM-locked. If it is locked, then again it's probable, but not certain that you will be able to unlock it.

I have a X300 with the Vodaphone Sierra Wireless option. I use it while visiting in Israel with local Partner SIM. Tamir
