Just to tease you...
So it seems we are near the public inofficial release of Lenovo's new Thinkpad lines when more and more information are coming online through dark channels. So end of July is the grand opening of Lenovo's new full notebook portfolio. Bigger, better, faster and lighter!
The 3000 series is dead (R.I.P.) and will be replaced by the SL series and some idea:pads. Sounds good?
Finally Thinkpads with nVidia's silent mode (integrated graphics) and power boost to real graphics at home?
Thinkpad X200s at 980 grams, that's close to the EeePC, right? Sounds good (and expensive)?
Will the W700 be available with Quad-Cores?
Are these news real or just speculation?
www.thinkpads.cn has some interesting infos and more... for those of you who are news junkies read on and click through the links...

No way. All new notebooks will be widescreens only.
The site now reports "Too many connections error"

Hopefully the 14" T61 will get a better dedicated graphics chip.

the article mentions that the x200 would likely to use SSD solid state hard drives and LED light lcd screen.
should we expect the price to be around ~$2500? or something cheaper?
I should purchase an x61 while it's still cheaper compared to the future x series...

If using HD 3800 will be awesome. But it's said to be using HD 3650, though it's ok.

I agree, but the W workstation series might be using the HD3800 as it's larger.

Just like the X300 was 2.5 lbs?

Some informations about the docking station of the x200 or x200s model? USB only, or with dvi? What is the difference between x200 and x200s?

According to this news...

(use google translator)
it is ATI again with a FireGL 9xxxx. Oh, no...!
The built-in RAID 0/1 sounds interesting, on the other hand.
But I can imagine, prices will go thru the roof.

4.17 "of course, provide WUXGA (1920X1200) resolution panels, and 14" have the choice of resolution 1280 X800;
I know the 14" T61 had at least 1440x900 (and maybe 1680x1050?), I'm hoping 1280x800 doesn't become the 'de facto' for the 14".

Just in case the images go off:

This looks a smaller brother of the X300, even the lcd release mechanism seems to be similar. The keyboard looks to be almost full size, and the thicker LCD bezels continue. I am not very excited about the widescreen though

X200 looks very unbalanced in these pictures...not as pretty as X300
Full-size keyboard is a good idea but...I don't know. Hasn't moved me whatsoever. Maybe I'll like it better when I see it...

You must check the news on COMPUTEX.
Introduced are from AMD the PowerXpress and from Nvidia the HybridPower.
During Office work and on battery you use an efficient 2D graphics chip, and after work you start Doom 4 (or whatever is the "Game du Jour") and switch on the powerful 3D graphics with all its glory.
Finally, they introduced some smart technology.
No more selection problems with "do I want a silent notebook with long battery time or do I need power?"
You can have both now.

The keyboard looks to be almost full size,
I think it's completely full size. Widescreen 12" allows exactly a full size keyboard.
and the thicker LCD bezels continue.
Nooo! I really hate those stupid big bezels. And lots of small widescreen laptops have them, MacBook (Air), Asus Eee, MSI Wind, ThinkPad X200/X300. The X200/X300 are especially ugly because the top part is much thicker than the sides. Why can't they have the wonderfully thin ones from the X40/X60? Because of those webcams? But then again, the Sony TZ manages to sqeeze a webcam in a very thin bezel.

no the pictures do not accurately show what the bezels look like. if you look at the pictures of x300 from the same website, the bezels look thick as well. It should be similar to x6x but wider. I wouldn't worry about it being ugly.

Does anyone actually like the asymetric left/right LCD bezel on their laptops? Not merely tolerate, but like?

I wouldn't mind if the screen isn't off center, but it has to be off center to the left and not to the right. Notice how the trackpoint (or touchpad) is off to the left? Because the keyboard is offset to the left, so the screen should be the same way too.
Some HP notebooks have the touchpad exactly centered, and whenever I type on them my right palm keeps brushing the touchpad.

The X200 is definitely appealing...does anyone have an idea about possible release dates, or are we only getting the specs?
