What are the differences between the x301 and x300? Did they improve the LCD?

it's the same. the only changes are to the processor and integrated graphics.

The quoted specifications also name DDR3; I am pretty sure X300 is DDR2.

...which is a sub-specification of the processor.

Oh, sorry. I thought it was just a 1.2 -> 1.4 GHz speed bump. My bad.

the X301 is supposed to be penryn so it's a slight clock speed increase with 45nm architecture. whether it's a noticeable speed increase or sees an increase in battery life has yet to be determined.

Over at notebookreview forum, someone dug up the TDP's for the new components. The processor goes down by 2W, and the graphics chipset also goes down by 1.5W.
3.5W net decrease. Maybe the fan on the X301 will finally be able to shut off?

Processors goes from 17W to 10W (a 41% reduction) while increasing the clock speed by 14% (1.2 to 1.4Ghz), introducing 33% more memory (3MB compared to 2MB), a 17% higher FSB (800Mhz compared to 667), as well as all the Penryn features SSE4 and power saving (shuts down 1 core, overclocks the other).
The memory goes from DDR2-667 to DDR3-800 (17% increase) while the memory power consumption is reduced by 17% as well.
The X4500 increases clock speed by 6% (533Mhz versus 500Mhz) adds 20% more shaders (10 versus

and adds hardware based HD decoding. All while decreasing power consumption by 11% (13.5W to 12W).
Woot!

Yeah, except the stupid widescreen and the thick frame (that make it look so 90s).
Anyone know the difference between X200 and X200s this time around?

The 17W TDP is for the LV (Low Voltage) CPUs used in the X61s-line. The original X300 features an 1.2 GHZ ULV (Ultra Low Voltage) CPU with a TDP of 12W, so the decrease is 2W.

The weight difference between the X200 and the X200s is interesting. The X200 with a 4 cell battery is listed to weigh 1.34 kg while the X200s with a 4 cell battery is listed to weigh 1.12 kg.

As with the X61/X61s - it is probably a smaller 4-cell.

I think that the X200s weighs less than the X200 due to a less robust (and therefore lighter) cooling system.
X200s at 1.12kg/2.47lb is very impressive

is it possible to order X301 from hong kong?

The choice of SU9400 (10W TDP) for the X301 is interesting considering the X300 has an SL7100 (17W TDP). They went from low to ultralow voltage. I expected them to go with an SL9300 at 1.6GHz/6MB (17W TDP).
