X300 Tapping Solution

I had the tapping problem with my X300. when I received the X300 tapping sensitivity was set to one step below max. This was unusual. I tried everything to get tapping to work consistently. No luck. I know some people are waiting for a solution.

I called Lenovo support last week and described my tapping issues. I was put through a drill to insure that I had tried everything including booting in Safe Mode and then checking tapping. I was told the wrist rest would have to be replaced with a new unit. I was given the option to send the X300 in or replace the part myself. I chose to replace the part myself. The part arrived the next day.

I replaced the part. The result was normal, perfect tapping. You might not want to do this repair unless you are somewhat handy with tools. The repair was easy but might intimidate some.

This tapping problem was quite annoying so I thought people might want to hear about my repair.

I can confirm that after contacting Lenovo and a relatively painless conversation with the tech, Lenovo replaced my palmrest too and the problem has gone away.

I missed my x300 over the weekend, but now that it's back and I don't have to use a BT mouse, things are even better....

What is a "BT Mouse" and what do you mean with "tapping problem"?

The x300's trackpad did not seem to respond to about 30% of my taps, regardless of position, sensitivity or force. I had to use a "BlueTooth Mouse" instead of the trackpad.

Now that it's repaired, I no longer need the BT mouse...
