Does the X200 have an internal rollcage?

#1 Post by clayton.bigsby » Tue Aug 19, 2008 5:17 pm

I might have to get a new ThinkPad. So does the X200 (or perhaps the X6x) have an internal rollcage?

NHRA regulations state that if your laptop computer can traverse a quarter mile from a standing start in 11.49 seconds or less you must install a roll bar, and at under 10.00 seconds a full roll cage is required.

well, it's like a cage, that prevents whatever's inside from being damaged while rolling (-;

they have those in race cars to keep drivers safe and they're also being used in thinkpads so if you drop you laptop it won't (or shouldn't at least) brake
i run linux on my thinkpad x200s; it's stable, fast, secure and it's a great way to stay in shape

The X200 does not have a roll cage in the sense of the T-series notebooks. The bottom panel of the notebook is the main frame. On the T-series the bottom panel attaches to a big rollcage that gives the notebook its support.

That's what got me confused. Several sites claim that it has an internal rollcage similar to the x300, T6x, and R6x, but I couldn't find any explicit confirmation from Lenovo's site other than an "external rollcage".

That tiny x200 has a roll cage...!? How sweet if that is really true...

Blackhold:
For your information, "roll cage" as in "roll cage" of race cars
