Has anyone upgraded their hard drive on an X300? I thought this was not possible but someone from work said he did it on his. I assumed he was just being boastful but maybe I'm wrong...

Should be possible... it's a 1.8" SATA.

Perhaps to a 128GB or 256GB SSD. They are expensive but they are out there.

It is unknown if the bios will support the larger solid state drives. However I'm quite sure they will add support later if there isn't and demand is high enough.

FYI, a 128 GB Lenovo SSD (!!) has today been announced/introduced with X301 support - see ThinkPad 128 GB Solid State Drive transforms data storage and offers improved performance and reliability.

Wonder what the price-tag will be...

It should be a -$70 option the first few hours it is posted on the website if history repeats itself. ;)

I just upgraded my X300 with a 128GB Samsung SSD that I found at dvnation.com. Upgrade was painless and I am enjoying the extra space. Price was right, too. About 2/3rds the cost of the recently announced Lenovo 128GB SSD.

Does the existing SSD in the X300 use the uSATA connector (16 pins) or the SATA connector (22 pins)? Samsung makes both in a 128 MB drive.

I want to upgrade my 64GB SSD, and want to make sure my new SSD has the right connector.
