I've added a link to the X301 review at NotebookReview.com. FYI, they seem to have had no issues with boot time or battery life.

Apparently the same display as X300 with Lenovo unique SuperCrappy technology

It almost sounds like the X301 fan is somewhat louder than a X200 ... despite an ULV cpu in X301 vs a normal voltage cpu in X200.

Hehe... here's a present for you, however, it's 1280x800, but is is a 500:1 LED backlit FFS LCD, which seem to just have been released. I hope that Lenovo will offer this sooner or later.

Dell has got multiple screen choices with their configurations, why not let me choose between what surely might be a very beautiful looking FFS or for a resolution freak, might be low contrast, TN?

The 1280x800 resolution is too low for a 13.3" display. But the answer is it would be more expensive than the X30x display parody that Lenovo must have found in a second shop.

I've had my X301 for 3 years now and still going strong. Of course it is hopelessly behind the technology curve now - especially in terms of weight and display - and I'm looking to replace. What's the best new notepad - ipad? Any suggestions or place where it is easy to navigate reviews would be helpful...thanks

Only get an iPad if you wish you had a large iPhone that couldn't make calls. Other than that it's a worthless piece of technology if you need an actual computer (don't get me wrong, it does have it's uses I would just go for other choices).
There isn't really much of a replacement yet, but we should see laptops with the new Core i3/i3 LV/ULV CPUs coming out later this year, so I would think we will start seeing new ultraportables this fall.
If you are really itching for something right now, you can have a look at the Fujitsu Lifebooks that come with the Core i5 processor. They come in at 1lb heavier than the X301, though that is with a DVD drive and 6 cell battery. Honestly though I would wait until later this year when you can see more (and cheaper) offerings.

What? You might want to check that. Even my X300 isn't 3 years old, and I've had it since before announcement day.
