So of course I figured my X61 hard drive adapter tray would work and it goes it, but not all the way... does anyone know the part number for the HDD adapter for the X200? The Lenovo site refers to a HDD installation kit but no such part shows up in a number of searched

So I received the second hard drive tray, but it has a connector which is not compatible with all of the thinkpad drives that I want to use... I think its a SATA connector and all of my hard drives have the standard 2 rows of 25 pins... and no one at Lenovo can even figure out what I'm talking about...

Thanks for any thoughts

Yes, there are two types of drive interfaces around today, PATA (IDE/ATA) and SATA. PATA is on its way out and is rarely used in new machines. SATA is the current "standard".

The X200 Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter II is SATA, and it sounds like your drives are PATA.

To use PATA drives with an X200 you can use an external USB/PATA drive adapter or case.
