X200 Fingerprint Won't Enroll

#1 Post by ekap » Wed Oct 15, 2008 5:13 am

I got the X200 a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed te fingerprint feature much. A few days ago, (I think) after some updates from Lenovo, it mulfunctioned. I reinstalled it and it asks for my fingerprint, says all three are fine, consolidates them into the one with a red dot above, but won't keep them in the database or enroll me - returns right to the "swipe you finger" screen again and again. Can anyone help me please?

A couple things to check:
1. make sure you have the very latest fingerprint software for your system, available on the lenovo support website.
2. reboot your system, press F1 to enter BIOS setup, and choose the option to clear fingerprint data from the 'security' menu. sometimes this will clear up random fingerprint software problems like what you are reporting.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem in my X200. I am able to scan my fingerprints, but they not get consolidated and stored in the database.

This is strange as the fingerprint reader worked great for couple of months. I have recently reinstalled my operating system twice (from XP to Vista and than back to XP) and the problem still persists. I have also installed the newest fingerprint software from the Lenovo's website.

Any solutions?

Cheers, Boberro

There may be a problem with your fingerprint hardware. I think you're best course of action is to open a service request with the Lenovo help center.
