X300 Lost sound

#1 Post by Weez » Thu Oct 16, 2008 6:00 pm

I don't know how, why or when but i lost sound on my X300, ive tried removing and re-installing the device drivers, ive tried removing and re-installing itunes and nothing. I wish i could trace it to something but i had the unit muted for the past 2 weeks so im just not sure if it something that happened a day ago or 2 weeks ago. Any idea on what to look for? Ive checked the volume levels and they are all maxed out, nothing is muted anywhere.

Interesting, so i plug a set of earphones in and the sound works fine. it appears the internal speakers arent working. Any idea what i can look for? I dont have the slightest idea what it could be, i thought it was probably a software issue but i doubt it since it works fine with external speakers/headphones.

If it's a software issue, I'd suggest that you burn a linux live-cd and boot it up to see if you get sound there.

I'm not too sure but if you press a key long enough while the computer is booting up (POST screen) you should get a warning like "stuck key" and your speakers should beep loudly. Then you can test if it's a hardware issue.

You're not alone... there's a bunch of people (including myself) that have the same Audio issue and have posted at Lenovo forums...
