I have been trying to look on the lenovo site but I can't find information if the x200 and x200s support VT. I have just found out some manufactures like sony have disabled vt in the bios permanetly for their laptops. Can one the x200 and x200s owners check their bios to see if it supports vt? Thanks

There are settings in the bios under Config/CPU that enable/disable Intel Virtualization Technology and Intel VT-d on the x200 sitting in front of me.

It should, especially if smidgley sees it in bios. It is present and working on my W500.

X200s SL9400 CPU does:
http://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SL/SLB66.html
EM64T technology
Enhanced SpeedStep technology
Execute disable bit
Intel Dynamic Acceleration
Trusted Execution technology
Virtualization technology
You can look up the other CPUs for X200s/X200 if you want to be certain for the one that you desire to order for your laptop.

thanks for the replies. Yes i do know the that all the mobile core 2 cpus support vt but not all core 2 laptop bios support vt. I was thinking of buying the sony z but when i read that sony disables vt in all their lappies i was shocked, i need vt for running a 64 bit ubuntu on my system to mimic my server environment. Going sony was a big no no after that. I recently heard that some lenovos have vt disable on their motherboard too. so i just wanted to be safe before buying another thinkpad by checking if the the bios supports it.
