I know it is a long shot, but has anyone been able compare the screen on the new thinkpad? I am typing this on a new MacBook, I am less then impressed with the MacOS, and even less impressed with its Vista compatibility. One thing I am impressed is with the screen. I have heard some negatives about the x200 screen so I was wondering if anyone has been able to compare.

You like the screen, but you do not like the 2 OS's you've tried so far.

Are you looking to run XP or Vista no matter what? If so, then the X200 would probably be better. You can get it with an LED screen and it would be bright, and great.

Or you can try your hands at Linux.

Not quite, I don't care for the MacOS, but I don't care for how vista runs on the Mac Hardware. Trackpad support is a mess. Not that I don't care for Vista.

Like I said, I do like the LED screen and have heard some complaints about the LED screen on the x200 so I am wondering how they compare.

Lenovo uses the worst notebook screens on the market. No wonder that MacBook display looks better. LED backlight does not have anything with quality improvement, it is just more power saving.

I've read review of T400 14" WXGA+ (Samsung panel) and the display is really horrible http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evk-Ln_TFLA

Puppy - I think it would be wrong to say that all Lenovo screens suck. While the 14.1" XGA in my father's T60 is pretty terrible for quality and brightness, the 15.4" WUXGA (newer Samsung panel) in my W500 is plenty bright, and the quality and color is pretty good. Mind you, it's no IPS screen, but it's the closest I've seen a TN laptop display get so far.

I remember a lot of complaints about Samsung WUXGA panels in T60. But I understand that current fast and substantial notebook displays quality decline turned into more loyal opinions on the horrible crap called "displays" these days :(

Yeah. I had heard that too. Supposedly the Samsung screens improved to about the quality of the LG screens. The newer ones are said to be better than the old ones. Either way, I'm used to CRTs, and this screen (with some adjustment) isn't too terrible in comparison (viewing angles excluded).
