Port Replicator for X200?

I'm considering retiring my T42 and replacing it with an X200. Currently I use two port replicators, one at the office, the other at home. This setup works well.

In shopping for an X200, I can't seem to find a port replicator, only the Ultrabase.

Can anyone tell me if there is a port replicator for the X200?

Can anyone help me with the port replicator question?

As far as I know, the UltraBase is all that's available for the X200.

The UltraBase is nice but for what I paid, I'd assumed that it came with an optical drive of some sort. Not only did it not come with a drive, none of my existing optical drives would fit because it's SATA only. The SATA DVD-RW drive that fits this is as much as the base itself.

The Ultrabase is indeed all that supported on the X series (since X40 onward; X3x had the added benefit of compatibility with the standard A/T/R docks, in addition to the X3 Ultrabase).

The Ultrabase is indeed a very nice thing. It has a couple advantages over the docks/port replicators:

* It is lighter and the laptop can is still somewhat portable while attached to it.
* It has the Ultrabay for optical drives / hard drives / batteries. Of course the T/R/W/Z series wouldn't need something like that anyways.

The disadvantages are:
* Pricy
* Does not come with own power cable
* No DVI (however the X200 Ultrabase is the first that has DisplayPort, so at least some digital video output is present).

Thank you for the replies.

I will need two vases. The price will make me rethink whether the X200 is the machine I really want.

Gosh. I didn't know such a device existed.

Based on listings on EB#@, the price point is certainly more attractive.

I don't see X200 listied in the compatibility chart. Do you happen to know of any reason why it wouldn't work with the X200?

I was surprised no one mentioned that to you before.

This forum used to have more people interested in helping.

I can't guarantee that the device is going to be compatible, but I highly suspect it is. Hopefully you will be able to find some info on the web.

USB port replicators are just standard USB devices. I see no reason why they wouldn't be compatible with any laptop.

They also suck. Not true docking solutions. Maybe this is why nobody mentioned them. Whenever someone talks about a dock, this doesn't even come to mind.
