X200 tablet
X200 tablet
I currently own an R61i, which I bought as an to thinkpads.
I am quite satisfied from the build quality, even though the design seems a bit too "boxy". The screen is also a bit dull. (Of course, I was mostly used to glossy screens, but even for matte screens, it is dull).
Now I am thinking of moving to a tablet PC.
X200T is my obvious choice, even though quite more expensive than the other candidata, Toshiba M750. But after using a colleague's toshiba m750, I was not excited about it.
So, I am focused on the X200T. Now, the questions:
1) Given the fact that I want the most bright screen possible, which screen should I choose? I do not want multi-touch, as I 'll use the tablet always with the stylus.
In fact I want the screen which is the most bright one and at the same time the most comfortable-error free for writing and sketching. I am not interested in using the tablet with my fingers.
2)Is it possible to upgrade the tablet with an SSD? Even if that means that I have to buy it from a third party supplier.
3)I cannot find the X200t in a uk site. Even lenovo.co.uk has not listed it. Has it arrived here? If not do we have an estimated date?
4) And if it is here, do you know any shops that have thinkpads in stock so that I can see one in flesh before buying?
Thanks in advance,
Kostas

1. Sounds like you want the WideView LED backlit screen. Since you don't need to use it with your fingers, you don't want the MultiView/MultiTouch touchscreen model which is (by specs) not as bright as the non-touch model.
2. Yes, all current Thinkpads except the X301 use standard 2.5" SATA hard drive. It's an easy swap that involves removing 1 screw, pulling out hard drive tray, swapping the caddy (4 screws).
I'm in the USA, so can't comment about 3 and 4.

Would you put the "WideView LED backlit screen" in the same category as an IPS Flexview screen?
I am looking into a Thinkpad but after years of IPS i don´t think i can compromise on that! I think the X200 LED tablets are the only current Thinkpads up to the par but i might be wrong....

X220t IPS but but a bit unhappy with it

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn´t one of those X200 tablet models equipped with an IPS panel with LED backlight?
Thanks, Marin

there is no confusion on yoour question edmund... the screen you are looking for is the:
2) 12.1" (308mm) WXGA (1280x800) TFT color, anti-glare, LED backlight, 285 nits, 16:10 aspect ratio, 500:1 contrast ratio, IPS, frameless screen
the remaining question is if that screen is as good as the legendary IPS Flexview of some T42, T43 and T60s.
