For those experiencing sluggish X301 performance

#1 Post by Greg Gebhardt » Sun Dec 14, 2008 8:25 am

From day one my X301 with the 128SSD has had a problem with input being delayed for 5-10 seconds. You would be typing and notice that your text was not showing up on the screen and then all of a sudden half of what you typed would all of a sudden pop up. Same with the touch pad, for 5 seconds or more it would go dead and not respond.

Yesterday Lenovo pushed the 1.02 Bios updated to my laptop for downloading. I can not tell you the difference it has made. Not only did it stop the above problems but my entire laptop is faster and more responsive. Overall it is a different laptop. :)

I really think that Lenovo had a problem which they fixed with this update. Just a heads up incase you are having problems and have not had the 1.2 Bios offered yet. It made a huge difference in my X301.

Happy Holidays to all!

My x301 also showed the same symptom when it arrived last month. The system would freeze for 5 ~ 10 seconds after each reboot. The problem disappeared after I installed the bios update. I also disabled system prefetch, indexing, and used ramdisk to minimize disk I/O.

I dropped my CPU back to adaptive and my laptop is still faster than ever with no delays. I am a happy camper!
