Hello,
I see this message in Intel Management and security status in my X200 every few days, but it don't affect my use. the machine is X200 7458-AE4, it came with vista but i installed xp myself. I checked my friend's X200, same model and bought from the same source, same problem.

is it a known bug ?

Did you install the Intel TPM driver for Windows XP? A driver is needed for XP since the OS doesn't have any built-in driver for it.

It's not a known bug that I have heard about, but it certainly seems that there is something wrong if the Intel utility is reporting a problem.

If you don't use the TPM, and just want the problem to go away, you can probably change the TPM to "disabled" state in BIOS (in the security menu of BIOS F1 setup). In "disabled" state the TPM is turned off and hidden from the OS.

If you do use the TPM, or think you might use it in the future, then I think you'll need to open a support incident with Lenovo. You might have faulty TPM hw.

I am also having a problem with my TPM on my X200.

Everything works fine after a restart but after waking up from sleep a few times, it stops working. My fingerprint reader works fine because I can log into windows but nothing happens afterwards I swipe for passwords.

Iget this error when I go into TPM Managment Console:

"Cannot load management console
Loading of the management console failed. Self-test has failed and the TPM has shutdown. (Eception form HRESULT: x8028001C) Try again."

Is this the same problem with you?

I'm running Vista 64 Ultimate.

your error message looks more meaningful, but i am using xp right now. My machine came with vista home basic, i think i may have to restore it to vista before sending it for checking.

I had a similar problem. I reinstalled (not upgraded) the TPM Driver (version: 4.0.1.1074) and re-enrolled fingerprint; it seems to work fine - so far...
