Questions about X200 Warrenty

Hey guys.

I have X61s which I am more than happy with. I purchased that one locally in Europe.

But still I wish to move to the X200. I noticed that it would be much cheaper purchasing it from the U.S. customized to exactly how I want it. I have a relative in the states so he can re-ship it to my European address.

My question is concerning warrently. I know with X61s there used to be issues with the CTO (Customized) models having no international warrenty. I want to know if the situation has changed ?

I find it very peculiar to purchase an Ultra portable laptop without having a warrenty in case I am stuck overseas with an urgent problem. When I tried to customize the model on Lenovo site I couldn't find a way to add international warrenty, though I did add the 3 year warrenty in there.

Thanks

CTO models I believe do not offer IWS and there's no way to add it at a later date. Some pre-configured models do have IWS(consult the tabook for more information), but you lose the customization. Perhaps there's a pre-configured model which is a close match to your needs.

Most of the CTO models available in the US do not have much of an international warranty. However, I have seen some that do. What is more important than the CTO letters are the first four digits of the model number. With that you can look up the applicable IWS here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... OOK-IWS#sw. (You may want to use IE for that link as it currently doesn't work with Firefox.)
