Finding Wireless Network

#1 Post by journeyjane » Sat Jan 03, 2009 10:02 am

I have a new x200, running Vista Business. I have a working wireless network in my house--my second notebook is able to connect to the wireless network just fine. However my x200 shows that it does not recognize any wireless networks. This happens even if it is right next to the 2nd notebook computer which is successfully using the wireless network. I have a hunch that somehow the x200 is not recognizing the router. I have checked the wireless card (the 5300) under "My Computer," and the driver is shown as up to date. When I run the Intel diagnostics tests, it fails at finding the wireless network. If you need further information to help me, please ask. I do know about the wireless network sliding button, and it is set to the "On" position. I have not found this issue elsewhere in this forum. I appreciate any help that I will receive.

Press Fn-F5 to bring up the Thinkvantage Wireless options. Make sure the wireless is on. Beyond that, can't think of what might be wrong.

On your WiFi router, try turning off WEP or other encryption temporarily. You want to make sure X200 you can even connect to an open network. If you have MAC address filtering, try turning that off too.

Going to Lenovo for repair

After spending about one hour with technical support at Lenovo (they were very cordial), I am being sent a box to send the X200 in for repair.
