Trying to do a clean install on an X200, Loads of troubles!

I'm trying to do a clean install of Vista ultimate danish on a new X200, But I'm having loads of problems.

First of there where almost NO drivers installed when Vista install was finished.
And Thinkvantage system update dosn't find close to all the things I need.

I still haven't been able to find drivers to something called "Seriel PCI-port"
and I get an error with the "on screen display drawer" every time I reboot windows, and the "Fn+Fxx" doesn't work.

The Vista version I'm installing is not SP1, and I realized that pretty late, but it didn't help installing it.
Do you think it will fix my problems to get a Vista SP1 install media?

Have any of you guys had any trouble reinstalling a clean Vista?

Nope, I do it all the time... Seriously, I always prefer to do a clean install of OS (say instead of the Lenovo preloaded image) and it happens quite often :D For that purpose I have downloaded all relevant drivers from Lenovo website, so I can use that pack of drivers whenever I have to install or reinstall my OS. This comes very handy since System Update is well known for its bugs, so this is one more reason for manually installing drivers. Everything else is just a promise for problems ;)

Cheers

Yeah I had to do that, but I still have some problems.

First off, What is "Seriel PCI-port" and which driver should I install for it?

I have tried to reinstall again, and this time I started with the service pack 1 for vista.
So we'll see if I'm still gonna have the problems with some of the lenovo software not working. Some of them only started half of the time :(
All the time wasted! :)

It made all the difference that I started with the Service pack 1, before anything else.
also I found out that the "Serial PCI-port" was installed when I installed the intel management and security package, what is this by the way? is it something that would ever need? :)

Probably too late in your situation, but next time before you wipe your original Lenovo installation you can backup the C:\SWTOOLS and C:\DRIVERS folders to a CD or USB drive. Then after you install Windows, go to control panel -> device manager and for any items that Windows couldn't install, simply point the driver updater to these folders. Of course, you can also download updated files from the Lenovo website but at least this will get you up and running.
