X200: hiss when headphones are plugged to the Ultrabase

#1 Post by amo » Tue Jan 20, 2009 5:25 pm

Hi,

I posted the issue on the Lenovo and notebook review forums (sorry for triple post for those who read there!), but got nobody commenting.. So, as title says, when I plug the headphones to the Ultrabase of my shiny new X200, I can hear a hiss, that seems related to the CPU running at full speed - the hiss is not there when the CPU speed is reduced. When plugged to the computer itself, there is no hiss.

I heard that kind of a hiss on other laptops in the past. I'm glad it's not there on the X200 itself, but am wondering if there is a known issue concerning the Ultrabase? Anybody experiencing the same?

Just some notes to entertain in between;) I just love the X200!! I started with an R51 15" 5 years ago, then a T60p 14" 2 and a half years ago, and just now the X200. It's just lovely, I like the form factor very much and to me the screen is a good compromise of size and readability, I have enough real estate, and I find the screen very good (I may not be difficult). The keyboard, full size is wonderful. I read somewhere just now about some flex on the lower and upper left corners, well, I have to push to feel it, but it's not noticeable when typing, at all. Only thing is I find the space bar "loud" when I type fast, I operate it with the thumb, and it seems its "rebound" is a bit loud. Maybe I could "pad" it or something.
Other than that, I'd get this laptop again if I had a choice, it's super fast, and it's ultra portable. Amazing. I won't look back! (you can tell there's a happy camper here :) )

Regards,
amo
