My X200 is a one user machine so I decided to turn off fast user switching. In the process I also inadvertantly turned off the welcome scree. When I went to turn it on again I received a dialog box with a message to the effect that a program - atginahook.dll - had disabled the welcome screen and fast switching. I believe that file is part of the fingerprint software. Does anyone have any idea how to get around this - both the weclome screen and fast switching check boxes are now greyed out so I can go no further at this point...how can I restore functionality to the "Change the way user's log on or off" option?
thanks for your feedback

Re: how can I restore the XP welcome screen?
I don´t use Fingerprint or Client Security Solution, but I would check there for login settings. If you use CSS, there you can find settings as to the way you log in on your computer (if I remember correctly), this was the case with the older versions I have seen. AFAIK there are basically 3 possibilities to log in: using your fingerprint, using CCS password, using "normal" windows password. Then you have all possible combinations of the three, some of them should bring the welcome screen back. As a side note: you will probably have to give up some of the authentication methods on login or add another authentication method to the already existing (from the three), which might be not very user-comfortable.

Re: how can I restore the XP welcome screen?
There was indeed a setting in the fingerprint options for fast switching. It turns out if you have a fingerprint reader the Fast User Switching and the Welcome Screen options are not actually independent...they both have to be on or off; ie, you can't turn off fast switching and still use the XP welcome screen like you can on a machine without the fingerprint reader.
