Acces connection 5.2 loss of WWAN

Hi All

To fix a connection issue on my x301 running XP, I have today nstalled the latest Access connection 5.2. However after installing this I get a failure message at startup:

"The system contains incompatible Wireless Wan drivers. To access wireless wan functionality please get latest drivers and install them on your system"

However my system has the latest WWan driver which on the download site for AC 5.2 is listed as

Wireless WAN (Vodafone and AT&T - HSDPA) 1.0.1046.215

Which corresponds to my driver, not the GPS and WWAN does not work. I have tried to uninstall and re install the WWAN driver but without luck.

Any body out there having same problem and perhaps a fix?

regards

I just looked at the Lenovo Support site for your computer and it is still listing Access Connections 5.12. Would you be as well served with the prior version? (Keeping in mind your other post that Location Switching doesn't always hook up). .... JDH

The AC5.2 seemed to solve my automatic connection at start up problem so I kind of like it. Also if you click the 5.12 download you get the 5.2 software... Which list the X301as compatible So it should be okay I guess

Where do I go to get the AC5.12 downloaded?

Regards

At the bottom of the 5.20 page is a link for 5.12. .... JDH

I upgraded my Vista machine to V5.2. Now, the Connection Status icon (the signal strength icon) is part of Access Connections. Starting with V5.2, the bars are yellow now (or at least a very, very pale green). So even at 99% actual strength, it still shows weak in that the bars are all there, but essentially have no colour. And this newest version continues to be so slow to start that it leave a Not Responding box behind the main window that stays on the screen when you exit Access Connections. I have complained to Lenovo, but they pay scant attention to anything that looks pragmatic. .... JDH

I'm having the same yellow bars problem plus trouble connecting in vista wireless with Access Connections 5.20, 5.12 worked but not that well. What's going on with Lenovo. Doesn't someone test software anymore before releasing it?

just rolled back to 5.12, otherwise I cannot enable the WWAN card either.
Lenovo's QC now is so inferior

Between the problems being described and the slow performance and on top of that the lack of any response to my query, the answer is NO, Lenovo is not paying attention. If the product is "cool" they stuff it out the door whether it works or not. If it is not "cool" they want no part of it. ... JDH

Have people evaluated the Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility as a replacement for Access Connections???

I am not having this problem with Access Connection 5.2 on Vista equipped ThinkpPads, with the default graphical presentation options in use.

The green bar thing is definitely a pain though, and does need to be fixed!

Cheers,

I ditched Aero (and I assume that is what you meant by default). I am not the only person who ditched Aero. So why should we suffer? There is (was) an acknowledgement by Lenovo that PM and AC were pig slow. They pointed to a Microsoft patch that would not install in their computer.

In my view, they know about the problem, have seen the problem, and are simply too lazy and now becoming too incompetent to fix it.

It doesn't stop me from using it, because I like the fundamental connection switching capability.

I suspect the problems are due to having to accommodate the new WiMax wireless adapters in the access connection software, this might be part of the reason they changed the version. The gui, to do the fancy 3D ring orbiting of signal strenght circles must chew up a big chunk of memory. In my opinion it is a waste.
