What SSD X301 has ? I want the same for my X200s

Can anybody tell me what is the specific model for the 128GB SSD drive in the X301 ?

I am going to purchase an X200s and wish to replace the HD with a 128GB SSD one, but I want the same model that the X301 I think made by Samsung but not know the exact model. I know they are rated as the best SSD out there which is why I'd rather get it for my X200s. I know it's 1.8" but I assume it comes with a 2.5" rack.

Thanks!
That has been very helpful. Also if someone knows the model for the 128GB SSD please let me know. This post was for the 64GB model.

Good point. The one from the link seems to be only the 64 GB version (and I though that all X301 come with the 128 GB SSD...).

Marin

EDIT: I now see in Lenovo website that the X301 can be customized with a 64 GB SSD.

Order Lenovo part number 43n3406. This is a US part number and I don't know if they have a different one for EU. I have this in my x200s.

Hi
Are you sure that's the model ? I checked Samsung website it was unclear, but I think they stated it is an MLC drive? I was always under the impression the X301 128Gb SSD is an SLC one and not an MLC one.
http://www.samsung.com/global/business/ ... CQE28G8MUP

So does the X301 really true it comes with Samsung MLC SSD 128gb drive?

Would appreciate a reply

The 128 GB SSD in X301 is a MLC drive :!: ...which was very surprising to me considering the price of X301, IMO just a way to increase the profit margin on the X30x series...

Thanks Marin, I just wanted to verify that, as I think the 64Gb was SLC so I thought the 128gb would also be SLC.

So did I! The bigger my disappointment was... I also think Lenovo should have pointed this out under the specs. And speaking honestly, I´m not sure if the 64GB SSDs shipped with X301 are all SLC :?...

I am wondering if I buy a X300 with a 64GB SSD for $1300 and then upgrade to a 128GB SSD for an additional $500. How much would I be able to ebay the old 64GB SSD for?

Lenovo has begun to ship MLC 64GB SSD for several months now. The SLC version of the drive is now becoming rarer and rarer. The reason why X300's price plummets on the Lenovo websites is because they're switch to MLC completely now.

AvalonXIII, thanks a bunch for this piece of information. I guess that now explains a lot...

I thought MLC drives were not good for boot disks due to the high cycle count of certain sectors of the disk? Or at least in a best case setup. I was surprised to see them switch to MLC drives, but that explains some of the price drop. I would assume that Lenovo is not planning on sending out warrenty replacements, so MLC should be good enough.

I got this from IBM PARTS LOOKUP: 41W0517 41W0520 SAMSUNG 64GB 1.8 INCH SOLID STATE DRIVE. Warranty for the thinkpad expires 2011-12-07.

Is this a mlc or slc SSD?
