hi,
I recently bought an X300, but isnt happy with the current operating system(vista business) they have given me because its loaded with too many of the factory software which I dont need. Would it be okay for me to completely reformat a new clean opeartion system (windows 7), and where would I be able to download all the drivers from?
Regards,
David
Formatting X300
Re: Formatting X300
Lenovo's site has most of them for the supported operating systems http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-69378. Windows 7 isn't going to be supported yet so you will have "try & see".Diablo6.0 wrote:hi,

I´m not sure what you mean by "okay for me", but yes, it shouldn´t be a problem if you have a Windows 7 media. However, you will loose the Lenovo preload partition, so if you think you are not going to need it (it also takes up space on your 64GB SSD), you can go ahead without any concerns. Regarding Win 7 drivers, you will need to use Vista drivers, most of them work ok, some may not work. I would suggest you to take a look in our Windows 7 subforum, there you will find some more information on the subject and also a sticky link to Lenovo website for their Windows 7 drivers (beta). As of now, there are only Active Protection drivers for both x86 and x64 platforms available. For everything else, again, you will have to use Vista drivers. Also note that not necessarily the latest Vista drivers will work under Win 7, in fact earlier versions seem to work better/exhibit better compatibility with Win 7.
Hope this helps

Oh I just though if i were to lose the preloaded driver problems would a rise. Anyways i understand what your talking about.I´m not sure what you mean by "okay for me", but yes, it shouldn´t be a problem if you have a Windows 7 media.
