GPS FUNCTION NOT WORKING ON X300????

#1 Post by voot566 » Tue Mar 03, 2009 8:47 pm

Hi everyone, I am new to thinkpads.com
Recently I purchased a MC5725 from ebay, the card is branded Lenovo, and the seller said it is origionally took out from an X61.
I checked the card, and it is yes, from lenovo for sure.

First, I installed it in my X300 with reference from some website, so I sure I did not put the cable wrong.
I start the system with Windows Vista, the computer automatically installed the Thinkvantage GPS for me, I think the computer recognized the MC5725 card. However, after couple time of try, thinkvantage GPS show me "Connection unsuccessful". I have no idea, and I try to recover my system with Windows XP Pro, which is built in when the system come from.
After few try, the computer successful pick up the signal and located my position. However, after I installed some program and do the THinkvantage update, the GPS function mixed up. The computer can no longer pick up any signal from the satellite. Because of this, I think maybe it is something wrong of the Lenovo update.
I do the recovery again, format the Harddrive, and put a new system(win xp pro). I did exactly what I did as same as last time. I dont install any update. Nevertheless, the X300 can't pick up the siganl, no matter where I bring it to. I can get the GPS signal from my Nokia N82, but the X300 is not working for that.
Anyone can give some suggestion?

I had execute the GPSdiag to test the GPS siganl, seems it can usually pickup three signal from the satelite when I test it in some place, but my N82 can do 7 at the same time. Anyway, it can't connect.

I try to flash the bios back to 1.05b which I downloaded from lenovo.com. No working.
I am almost crazy for that.......
