Real World Battery life for X200s & X301

I tried to search for it but didn't find an definite answer.

I have X200s (1.86Ghz, WXGA+) and X301 (128Gb SSD, 1.4Ghz) I wonder what is the real world battery life for them. That will help me decide which battery to use for each.

Hello,

My X301 stays around 4,5 Hours with battery stretch enabled with my 6 cell battery with maximum performance it will stay around 2 hours that's my experience i hope you find this information useful.

On my X301 with the 3-cell battery, no battery stretch, about 75% screen brightness, I only get 2 1/2 hours web browsing and and trivial applications. I have already ordered the optional 3-cell bay battery.

That is, battery performance isn't that great.

Thanks wctom,
Actually 2.5 Hours with 75% brightness and web browsing plus some apps is very nice for a 3 cell battery! You can't possibly ask for more out of a 3 cell battery. In my X61s with internet browsing and some office work I get 2 hours out of a 4 cell battery. I know that 2.5 hours isn't much, but it's very generous for a 3 cell battery. I bought an additional 6 cell battery as my wife like's to have the CD on the road.

X200s (SL9400), 6-cell battery, 50% brightness, web browsing and office work: 6-6.5 hours. A little more than half of that with the 4-cell.

And with the 8-cell X200 can reach up to 8-9 hours (depending on power settings and usage).

On my X200s with 9cell battery I get around 5-6 hours, that's 100% brightness, CPU in dynamic mode, all radios switched on, all desktop effects enabled and all the usual software running (Firefox with 10+ tabs, IM, few documents, pdf's and spreadsheets, virtualbox, some downloading and audio player).

I suppose I could get few more hours if I reduced the brightness, switched off desktop effects and did few tweaks but I'm ok with "only" 6 hours (I was lucky if I got 3h out of my old x30). Oh, I'm running the latest kubuntu

My X301 with 6 cell + 3 cell bay battery last about 7 to 8 hours for word processing with XP, WiFi turned off, 7/10 brightness.

X200s 9-cell: I usually expect/get around 1 hour per 10% of battery life with moderate usage (~75% brightness, dynamic CPU speed, moderate WLAN usage)

Here is mine:

x200s, 9 cells, 4GB RAM with 128GB SSD, page file is 256MB
Power theme custom setting:
max cpu speed = lowest
cpu deeper sleep = enabled
optimize fan control to = balance all param
display brightness = 5

lower display brightness = after 1 minute
lower to = 0
Turn off display = 5 min
stop hard disk = 3 min (don't know if this actually matter since I have SSD)
Enter system standby = Never
Enter system hibernation = Never

I have speaker muted, BT turned off, Wifi turned off but wired lan is connected and working constantly. I had my Outlook opened for the entire duration and other network usage on and off.

My battery capacity is 83.56 Wh out of 84.24 Wh design capacity.

So I ran this today starting 9am, went to lunch for one hour and put computer to standby. Came back and resumed computer. Until 5pm, my battery gauge showed 40% battery capacity left and over 4.5 hrs remaining.

I think I can easily get over 10 hours but I am not going to work that late to see my battery drops dead. Draining 60% over an 8 hours day, it will take a while to drain the remaining 40%.

X200s with 6 cell battery: while browsing the internet and watching stuff on Hulu with "Maximize Battery" setting on the Thinkvantage Power Manager, I get an estimated 7.5 hours; this estimate was consistent for about 30 minutes or so I tried. Doing the same thing + using MS office with "Maximize Performance" gets an estimated 3.5. Maximize Battery + Battery Stretch + disabling all unnecessary peripherals and letting the laptop idle (with the screen on) bumps it to about 10 hours. Of course these are just estimates by the computer as to how much life the batter will get.

X200 with 6cell
7200rpm 320GB drive as extra power hog.
Windows 7 b7077 with some problems (display driver stops functioning every now and then, backlight control doesn't work).

Up to 6,5h when doing work on on the road with maximum power savings, but most of the time (i spend quite a lot on WWAN) its up to 4h.

Just thought I'd update. Two years later, using Windows 7, I now get ~45 min while streaming Netflix in Chrome with no other apps open. Discharged the battery a few times a week but generally kept it around 80% charged plugged in.

That sounds way off. What is the amount of battery wear?

I have the 6 cell and the 3 cell bay battery.
I would say 3 to 4 hours is about what I get.
I use wifi and screen brightness near max.
To be honest if I turned off the wifi and just word processed it may last 5 to 6 hours.
I do remember sitting on a plane and watching 3 films on it so at least 4 - 5 hours.
It's always hard to gauge usage.

Hope that helps.

I agree. It's 641 cycles, according to Power Manager.

I meant the full charge capacity versus design capacity.

9.50Wh, design is listed as 56.16Wh.
