x300 travel bezel

Hi,

If I buy an X300 from say the Lenovo outlet or Ebay - without an optical drive, can I assume it then comes with the travel bezel even if it doesn't mention it at all? (I don't really need an optical drive and I want it as light as possible - 2 hours of battery life is fine for me). And if it's not included, what happens then? I am left with a gaping hole in my x301 that will collect dust, or what? if not, what is the travel bezel for?

also, is the Lenovo outlet trustworthy when it says a its a "new" machine?

Thanks...!

There were two base configurations for the X300 from which you could then customize to order. The least expensive came with an empty ultrabay and a travel bezel. The more expensive model came with either an ultrabay battery or an optical drive. Since the outlet has their own part numbering systems for the ThinkPads they sell, there is no way to be sure, but I am quite confident this is the situation. I have purchased travel bezels for each of my different ThinkPads that have ultrabays, since I want them to be as light as possible when traveling. Since this plastic "door" that snaps in place to cover the opening is so inexpensive, ($5.00) that is the approach that I have taken.

Cheers...
