x301 become unresponsive after resuming from hbernation

#1 Post by elvair » Sat Mar 28, 2009 12:15 pm

I came accross strange thing. Today I spent some time in a cafe browsing internet on their wifi, then hybernated machine and went home.
Once home, I started the machine again, it loaded promptly, I succesfully logged in. But when I tried to get connected to my home wifi I could not, because when I right clicked wireless connections icon in tray it didnt display a context menu, pressing FN-F5 (Lenovo access manager) resulted in hourglass which later dissapered and nothing happened.

In addition to this adjusting display brightness was not working either, it stuck somewhere in the middle and I could not put it to the top level, nor with FN key, neither with power manager.

Apart from that system worked fine.

Any ideas what could it be ?

Thanks all in advance !

IMO it could be two things:
1. Problem with the wifi driver/software after resuming from hybernation (could reflect on the OSD too).
2. (more likely) Problem with your MLC SSD (I assume this since you have a X301) and Vista(?) hybernation. In this case, I would look for BIOS or SSD firmware updates or some Vista(?) fixes. (since you don´t mention what OS you are running, I am assuming it´s Vista).

In case you have XP, there might be some tweaks applying to your specific MLC SSD model.

Cheers,

Marin

As of now there are two types (technologies) of SSD drives, SLC and MLC. You can find more about this at SSD according to wiki.
