x200s Displayport Issue

#1 Post by Harryc » Fri May 01, 2009 3:13 pm

I bought an X200s with an X200 Ultrabase and a displayport adapter cable from Lenovo....all Lenovo parts. I can't get my external LCD (Samsung Syncmaster 2033sw 1600x900) to be seen by the X200s. BIOS is set to boot from Displayport. Any ideas? It's not the LCD because I use the DVI port in it all the time with other Thinkpads. The analog port works...but not at the right resolution. That is a carry over problem from the X61s I had. But that is another thread ...

Edit: I tried a different LCD, and a different DVD-D cable, same problem. I also checked every BIOS option, and there is nothing that toggles the displayport on and off.

I took the advice I usually give someone in this type of bind, and I booted up a live Linux CD, in this case Mint 6.0. Well, the displayport came right up, albeit at a lower resolution than optimal for my LCD, but at least it worked. So, that tells me that the hardware is functional, but there is a problem with the displayport on Vista. Not sure what to try next...maybe an XP build. I'll report results.

Tried an XP build, and a couple of Intel drivers ... same issue.

What happens if you set the bootup display to both?
