Vista SP II and X300

Hi, folks,
I don't have an X300, but in reading the details of the fixes in Vista SP II, I came across the following:
"The optical disk drive on a ThinkPad X300 computer that is running Windows Vista is not recognized after you perform a suspend-and-resume cycle or a hibernate-and-wake cycle on the computer."
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949634
"The optical disc drive is intermittently not displayed on a ThinkPad X300 computer that is running Windows Vista."
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953834
Both are supposed to be addressed in Vista Service Pack II, which should be available to the public in beta on Thursday, May 7, 2009 on MS TechNet. I suggest caution here, as Microsoft has not always had a smooth update path with service packs, but if you have an issue like the above, trying out the SP (or the KB articles) may be the solution for you.
Good luck!
Lamar
