Wireless - two users cannot connect simultaneously

An employee has an AT&T 3800HGV-B router at home. His new X200s can connect wirelessly to it, unless his wife has already connected. If he connects to the router before his wife, then she cannot establish a connection. His PC runs XP, hers has Vista.
CORRECTION: Both run XP -- will need to check the patch status on hers.
Our employee could connect to this router at the same time as his wife using the X61 he had earlier. The wireless settings on both his TP-Xs look the same. His & hers each use DHCP and they just verified that each has a different IP assigned. Can anyone suggest a way to re-establish domestic bliss? Thank you,
Jim
