x200s - sound okay with headphones, but not speakers.

Hi,

I recently put XP on my x200s and I just can't seem to get the sound to work. I can hear the sound through headphones, but not the computer speakers. Any ideas why?

Thanks :-)

Pressing the "Mute"-button on the K/B disables the speaker. Try pressing this button again and/or the VolUp-/VolDown keys, this should enable the speaker. I have had the same problem with an X41 and Win XP.

Hi AMUE - Thanks! You solved one problem, but revealed another......

I installed XP from my own discs, and not from the recovery discs Lenovo provides. So somethings aren't completely perfect. Like the sound and the sound buttons on the keyboard. Let me explain.....

1) When I press the sound buttons on the keyboard, I do not get any on-screen visuals indicating that I pressed anything.
2) Volume up and volume down both work. (with no visuals)
3) Mute button turns volume off, but not back on.
4) When volume is muted, pressing volume up or down turns it back on.

I assume all this can be solved by a driver or something, but I scoured the Lenovo website and I'm nearly 99.99% positive I installed all the drivers I possibly could.

Any more suggestions?
Thanks!!!

Install the Lenovo system interface driver, and then the hotkey utility.

PERFECT !! - That's just what I need. Everything works a-okay. Thanks a lot !!

P.S. I swear I installed all those drivers. It took me ages to go through them all. But I guess something didn't click the first time. Anyway to find out if I'm missing any other BEFORE it becomes a problem?

Thanks again.

*EDIT*

While we're at it, there were 2 more things.......

1) Divice Manager says PARPORT has a problem.
2) I can't get the HD to stop spinning or power down when not in use. Is there a setting somewhere?
