defragment utility

quick question, what kind of defragment utilities do you all use? i'm looking for something that i can just install once and it will just defragment on the fly in the background. kind of like what diskkeeper does for SSD.
let's hear some suggestions. thx.

I have found diskkeeper to work well on all drive types. Many ThinkPads come with a lite version and I find the pay version to work well in the back ground on my SSD.
Why not use it?

I use jkdefragGUI which is free and portable on all my systems.

in that case, i'll need to check to see if mine has that. generally i use defraggler.
EDIT: I just checked and mine did not come with diskkeeper. it just has a window defragment. i tried using defraggler and it's taking freaking forever!! it shows mine is 44% fragmented. no wonder speed is a bit sluggish.

from what i ve been reading, running defrag on a SSD drive is a crime!

mine has HDD, so i'm not committing a crime.. haha...
for the SSD users, it depends on which type of defrag u use. diskeeper is fairly good in terms of defrag and extending the life of SSD.
anyway, back to my original post.. i ran defraggler on my x200 and after 2.5hrs, it's still running and only complete 45%. is there any other defragment out there that is faster?
i even ran it till it drain my fully charged 6 cell and still not finished! anyone had that issue?

Yep, Diskkeeper is a little more than your average defrager. It has special provisions for SSD drives.
Even a regular defrager on a standard drive is a crime as if it does not leave some room (slack) you end up piling everything new at the end of your drive. Diskkeeper does it the right way.
Even with 44% fragged you will not notice a huge difference in speed. Defragers really help more with decreased wear and tear on your drive.

Your speaking of HyperFast right? It's all a bunch of nonsense. Forget wear-leveling and all that, a SSD just simply operates very differently from a disk drive and does not require any optimizations for file IO like a disk drive does.
