so i recently had some time to play around with my x301 to try to get the best possible connection from my wireless n router (netgear wrn2000). i was surprised to find that with the original lenovo driver i could not connect at much more than 60 mbps. once i updated to the latest driver i saw some improvement ... and then with a little more research i found that certain encryption protocols will slow down your connection as well. switching to WPA2 seemed to work the best for me, and i now connect at 130 mbps at home, and 150 mbps at school (i don't know what kind of equipment they use).
my connection at home through the netgear and 16 mbps cable modem is decent, but not amazing; at school though it is very fast. and for me every little bit counts ...
does anyone connect faster than that? got any tips for connecting faster? i have the 5100 card by the way.
i think this thing might help when it comes out: http://www.netgear.com/Products/Routers ... s/wndr3700
getting the best wireless connection ...
Re: getting the best wireless connection ...
802.11n draft only works at high speed with AES - personally I use WPA2-PSK / AES and get 300mbps on my N router. I do have the 5300agn however, which is known to have better throughput overall than the 5100.
