fingerprint application not available...

#1 Post by eosme » Sun Jun 28, 2009 8:54 pm

i noticed that whenever my x200 goes into sleep mode by itself (i hear a beep and then it goes into sleep mode where the moon icon is lit up under the screen), then when i push the power on button to turn it back on.. it would show fingerprint application not available. what gives?

but when i manually hit fn+f5, it goes into sleep mode but when i power back on, then it's always there. could it be a bug that could be fixed?

Assuming you're using Vista, have you tried this registry patch?

yup, i'm running vista business and i've already done a full systems update. this link you gave me shows a version released from aug 2008. would the new system update took care of that already?

do you know where i can check to see what version i have already?

This is a registry patch, not a driver, as such, there's no such thing as checking the version number. System Update usually leaves out these registry patches. I always have to go back and install them. Even if you have this patch already, installing it once more shouldn't hurt, so I recommend that you do it regardless.

I have the same problem with my x200s every now and then, not at sleep mode, but seems it usually happened when I turned it on with battery when I had previously used AC, or vice versa--or maybe there's no pattern. Perhaps the fingerprint reader software and the power management have some conflict?

perhaps, but so far since the patch, the fingerreader seems to be kosher.
