Intel 4965 vs 5100 vs 5300 in X300?

Heya,
just stumbled over these ******* low prices for the Intel 5100/5300 WiFi cards and wonder if they are any good compared to the 4965 currently in my X300?
I heard the 5300 should have better reception?
I also saw some half-sized 5300, any differences besides the size?
Regards
Zhenech

As far as I know, I should be very glad not to have a 5100 or 5300 intel network card in my laptop. In fact, I'm really happy my new X300 hasn't.
Why? I, and with me a lot more people, have experienced connection dropouts with these cards. Still, my T400 has trouble getting connected to the internet with the particular Linksys router I use. My X300 has not had any problems so far (than again I only have it for two days...).
Just google a bit on 5100 or 5300 drop-outs or connection problems and you will see.
It may explain the low prices..

The same comment can be, and frequently is, applied to any WiFi card.
Despite the best efforts to date of the industry, WiFi in any of the 802.11 incarnations is still not a simple "plug 'n' play" technology.
In my own experience in a
properly configured WiFi environment using today's 2x3 routers, the 5300 holds connections
slightly better better than a 4965AGN. As full 3x3 support on routers become readily available, a 5300 will offer a significant speed improvement over a 4965AGN.
Cheers,
