Lenovo Out Of X200s LED Screens
Lenovo Out Of X200s LED Screens
This is probably temporary, but if you go to the lenovo website right now, you cant order an X200s with an LED display. The only thing available is the WXGA 3x3 Ultraconnect II screen.
This applies to all 3 models of the X200s, including the top-end one with the fingerprint reader.
I'm guessing the run-out is only temporary, but it shows that the LED manufacturing capacity can't meet demand right now.

Re: Lenovo Out Of X200s LED Screens
There is no LED display. It is just TN panel of very low quality with LED backlight. The problem is lack of higher resolution option regardless of the backlight type.

Re: Lenovo Out Of X200s LED Screens
I thought the LED display option for X200s has 1440 x 1024 compared to 1280 x 800 for the standard X200 display?Puppy wrote:There is no LED display. It is just TN panel of very low quality with LED backlight. The problem is lack of higher resolution option regardless of the backlight type.
Re: Lenovo Out Of X200s LED Screens
Let me rephrase.
The WXGA+(1440x900) LED backlit display for the X200s cannot be ordered right now.
Right now the only monitor options are the 12.1 WXGA(1280x800, CCFL backlit) screens.

WSXGA+ is 1680x1050, WXGA+ is 1440x900. The X200s comes with either WXGA or WXGA+ LCD's.
Re: Lenovo Out Of X200s LED Screens
Anyone have any idea when these LED screens will be available again?
Re: Lenovo Out Of X200s LED Screens
the delay started weeks ago. i ordered in early july and the order was delayed till september (and i subsequently cancelled it - obviously disappointed).
the sales said they are not sure when the stock will come in. but it might be as late as september.

Re: Lenovo Out Of X200s LED Screens
Probably it is just temperarily out of stock, and hopefully comming back in months time.
The point is, if X200s has the same screen as X200, will it still be lighter (weight)? It seem the only difference between these two is the CPU. I don't quite understand why X200s is lighter.

The material for the LCD enclosure of the X200s with the LED screen is carbon fiber composite, lighter than the non-LED LCD enclosure, which is made of metal.fanqimeng wrote:... the only difference between these two is the CPU. I don't quite understand why X200s is lighter.
Re: Lenovo Out Of X200s LED Screens
I talked to a Lenovo sales rep today about the X200s screen options (or lack thereof). Unfortunately, they have no ETA for the WXGA+ LED screens.
This is kinda irritating me, as I'd like to get an X200s (esp. now that the prices are down from when I last looked), but I'm having a hard time convincing myself to pull the trigger when I'm "limited" to a 1280x800 screen (esp. given that it's CCFL-backlit).
Still, the X200s is an insanely nice machine...

Yeah I noticed that too, I wondered what was going on. Good thing its coming back since I think the LED High Res screen is that one to get and I think it is lighter also.
Re: Lenovo Out Of X200s LED Screens
Another option is to get a standard X200s configuration with WXGA+. There are lots of resellers with them available.
Re: Lenovo Out Of X200s LED Screens
So Lenovo's Canada and UK stores both have the X200s with WXGA+, but the US one does not.
Gah.
Well hopefully the US store will get some in stock soon...

If they are finally out of that crap they could give Boe-Hydis a call for some more AFFS screens...

Also the x200s only supports low-power CPUs and thus has a different fan/heatsink assembly. I assume a lighter one.EOMtp wrote:The material for the LCD enclosure of the X200s with the LED screen is carbon fiber composite, lighter than the non-LED LCD enclosure, which is made of metal.

Re: Lenovo Out Of X200s LED Screens
This is just model positioning, X300/X301 at the high end with WSXGA screens, X200s as the ULV offering with standard resolution LCD, X200 as the low end. I don't think higher end options will come back to X200s.

A X300/X301 with 1680x1050? Where? Or did you mean WXGA+ (1440x900)?

I just checked some of my sources and ETA is way into October for any of the 7466 models with LED backlight display.

Re: Lenovo Out Of X200s LED Screens
Changing the WXGA panel from a TN panel to a AFFS one can in some ways make up for the lower resolution. Though I have to say I'm happy with the 1440x900 resolution of the X300.

Re: Lenovo Out Of X200s LED Screens
I just recieved an X200s with the 1440 x 900 LED backlit screen direct from Lenovo (ordered around 8/13), I'm pretty sure it's a 7465 model, so they are catching up on stock.
Re: Lenovo Out Of X200s LED Screens
Screens are back! for now...
Although there is some fine print: ' Selecting this option may delay your shipment 3-4 weeks."

Now it says "12.1 WXGA+ (1440x900) LED backlight with the Next Generation ThinkPad Roll Cage, 3x3 UltraConnect ll antenna"
Does this mean they finally put the WWAN (3x3) antennas in the WXGA+ LED lid, so end users don't need to stuff them in as homework?

Re: Lenovo Out Of X200s LED Screens
It is a WLAN (not WWAN) antenna system for newer technology 'N' cards that run with three antennas.
