I just called Lenovo and the rep wasn't sure. I have an X30 with the 3 cell battery. I'm looking at the 6 cell one online at the Lenovo store. I realize it weighs a bit more but in the style of other ThinkPad's, is the 6 cell larger or is it the same size?

The 6 cell only makes the back of the laptop sit ever so slightly higher.

Yes, it is slightly larger adding about 7mm to the front of the laptop (not the back as previously stated). It basically makes the whole laptop level instead of slightly slanted downward. Get the 6-cell. It nearly doubles battery life and you will not notice the difference in thickness (I promise). Lenovo engineers made it right with the 6-cell.

Front/back, close enough

I still feel like the form factor of the X30-series had it right. Battery in front distributes the weight better. Only downside is the limited size/capacity of the batteries, but I'm not complaining.
It seems like the etymology of Thinkpad X series goes something like this:
X30 -> X300
X60 -> X200
You just take the former model and stretch it out a bit. =) Of course, the guts of the X300 are probably more re-arranged than the X60->200.
