Max External Resolution for x301?
Max External Resolution for x301?
Hi, I read in a few places that the x301 can power a 30 inch display at its native 2560 x 1600 via the x301 DisplayPort but I tried it last night (Windows7 install) and maxed out at 1600-ish x something (sorry, I didn't write it down). Any thoughts here? While my DVI cable to the display is the dual DVI type, perhaps the DisplayPort to DVI cable is limiting. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.

According to the tabook, the max resolution on either VGA or DisplayPort is 2048x1536, which would be below a WQXGA display. It's a single link DVI-D and I think you need dual for a 30" monitor.

Re: Max External Resolution for x301?
Thanks for the reply. My DVI cable is Dual Link DVI for sure as it works fine on my desktop machine. Does Lenovo's DisplayPort to DVI cable support Dual Link?

It says it's single link in the Tabook.ew6050 wrote:Does Lenovo's DisplayPort to DVI cable support Dual Link?

Re: Max External Resolution for x301?
I have just configured a 22" LCD as a main desktop display for my X301 in my home office.
It's a Samsung 2270 1920 x 1080 ie Hi Def.
At I'm connected via the X301 VGA port to the Samung DVI connector using a cable that came with the display. I get a nice crisp image maxing out the Hidef screen.
To get it working I first had to load the Samsung display drivers which shipped with the display.
I then needed to setup the "Extended Monitor" mode under the Intel GMA driver in control panel and specify the resolution for Laptop and Monitor.
I noted that the Monitor resolution options presented by the GMA driver utility went somewhat above 1920 x 1080.
With the Samsung driver loaded, the Samung display model now shows up as as selectable screen option under the "display settings" ( Personalisation in Windows Vista Control panel).
Question is, have you loaded specific Monitor drivers for this 30" display?
If not, that could be the issue.

Re: Max External Resolution for x301?
I have a DELL 30 inches monitor (3008WFP) with DisplayPort input, my X301 can output 2560 x 1600 without any problem.
