I am planning on ordering the x200s with an LED screen. These are the two options that are available:

12.1" WXGA LED (1280x800) Panel, 3x3 UltraConnect II antenna [add $0.00]

12.1 WXGA+ (1440x900) LED backlight with the Next Generation ThinkPad Roll Cage, 3x3 UltraConnect ll antenna [add $135.00]

Is there a significant advantage to the WXGA+ screen other than the increased resolution?

The only difference is the resolution.

Some people replace their panel with a superior IPS panel. That replacement can be done with a CCFL display.

My LED display has significant backlight bleed at the top and bottom.

I haven't heard of this? Do you have any more information on suppliers and procedure?

Same for the TMD SXGA+ from the T61 I had long time ago. The Boe-Hydis on my X61 doesn't have this issue.

but is the bleeding uniform??? my x300 has uniform bleeding which because of its uniformity isn't bad. i had a flexview screen that actually was worst than my x300 because of not uniform bleeding.

Sadly, no -- at least not on mine. Backlight bleed is present on the top and bottom of the screen, but not on the sides. Across the bottom and top, the backlight is brighter in the center than it is in the corners.

Kind of a shame really, since LED-backlit screens are quite nice otherwise.

That's not quite true. The lid/top casing for the non-LED X200s is the same as the one on the X200. The LED-backlit X200s uses a lighter weight (and, IMHO, slightly less-sturdy) casing so as to accommodate the different panel/backlight.
