Wireless problems

I am having trouble with the 5300 Intel wireless in the X301. Sometimes it will not be able to connect to networks that are 99% strength when I am sitting right next to my friends who can connect. It gets to the very last step in the connecting process and shows an X after a long wait. It seems to happen in the same places (for instance I get connected in class rooms but not in the lounge) Also it does work very rarely in those places. Is there something I should try when it does not connect?

You might wanna try updating the drivers.
Go here:
http://www.intel.com/support/detect.htm ... ort_detect
I had the same problem with Intel 5100. Updating to latest Intel drivers seem to have solved the problem.

Check all the system settings for WiFi and make sure they are set to
maximum performance (or similar) and any options for the laptop to power down WiFi are
disabled.
You will need to check WiFi the device driver tabs, Access Connections options, and depending on what OS you are running may also need to check power management settings.
Cheers,

Since I started this thread i installed Win 7 Pro and dumped access connections. I am not sure if I need it because the only WiFi I use is WEP 128 at home and unsecured at school and lounge. I hope A C was just making things more complicated than it needed to be for unsecured. My friends on freaking plastic white MacBooks always got connection.
