WIMAX on X301

Hello. Two-three weeks ago i've bought X301. It's the first time i get a computer with a slot were to insert a cellular phon sim card (i guess it's something relative to WIMAX technology). I tried inserting a normal gsm sim card with the hope to see some differences in the hardware list but i didn't see any change. How to know if you wimax module is working or present in the system without having to buy a wimax sim card? I run WIN7 64 bit.
