I'll admit I have gone astray. Almost 3 years since I've owned a thinkpad.
So what do I buy?

Looking for Thin & Light Highest Performance Possible.

Budget?

What will you be using the machine for?

Is battery life a concern? If so, where does it rank on your list?

Based on the information provided, I would have to say X200 (lacks touchpad and a DVD drive).

Unless you need a quadcore, a p8600 should do the trick. At 2.4ghz, it should be fast enough to handle whatever you need. The p8700 only adds 130mhz which you really won't see in real world apps. Spend the money you save on 4gb of memory.

I'm running virtual machines in Win 7 x64 and my x200 handles it fine.

ThinkRob asked the right questions. We need more info.
Thinkpad: x200 p8600 2.4ghz (probably won't OC) / 2x2gig ddr3 1066 / HDD = ? / WIN 7 (adding OSX & Ubuntu later)

Desktop: MSI K9A2 Plat / PII 945 @ 3.75ghz / G. Skill 2x2gig ddr2 1000 / 120gb ocz agility / gtx260 core 216 / IBM trackpoint keyboard :D
