Questions about non-bussiness service of thinkpad x series?

Hi Everyone,

I am a new member of this forum and a newbie of Thinkpad products. I am interested in buying a Thinkpad X201 (not tablet) when it comes out in March this year. I have never owned anything from Lenovo. I am concerned about the customer service, because I bought a dell studio 14z last month, I ended up returning it because of their poor customer service (I paid extra to get full 2 years service from dell, and they did not do anything to help me to solve the issue).

Questions:
1) Dose Thinkpad X2xx series ship with a Win7 disc?
2) When you purchase Thinkpad directly from Lenovo website, did you purchase extra customer service as non-business customer? Is it worth to pay extra for their service or is the default 1 year limited enough already?
3) When you have a problem with your Thinkpad, which kind of service do you get? Do you call an 800 number or fill out a form online? Do you get service from US or outside of US? For dell, I called their 1-800 number and got services from India and it was not helpful at all.

After experiencing Dell's poor service, the service is my top priority when I purchase a laptop from now on.

Thanks a lot!
-Chuen

The X100e I purchased recently didn't ship with a disk. However, there's a utility that will let you create one.

When I purchased my X60s, it came with a 3-year warranty. I purchased the onsite next business day extension (cost me 80 euros extra) and I found it was well worth the price. I'm a business (self-employed), I don't know if it's available for non-business customers.

When I had a (self-inflicted) problem with the fan of my X60s, I called an local 800 number (I'm based in Finland) and a technician was sent on the next business day (my problem started on a Thursday evening, so I called on Friday morning and the technician came on Monday morning). He was able to fix it on the spot. I would definitely take a similar contract for any expensive Thinkpad.
